This is the full "Director's Cut" of the film, which tells the story of both adoption survivor Sandy White Hawk (Sicangu Lakota) and child welfare attorney Mark Fiddler (Turtle Mountain Ojibwe). The festival version shows Sandy's story of community healing and reunification, while also diving into contemporary conflicts surrounding the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA). This includes exploration of how the Adoptive Couple v. Baby Girl case has lead to current litigation challenging the Constitutionality of the Act.
